Any 'search engine' will put you on this track ; the I Ching originated in the Western Zhou Period, [1046-771 BCE] and is generally attributed to the Legendary Emperor Fu Hsi, {foo, see} , however Modern Scholars suggest is was compiled between the 10th and 4th Centuries BCE . I am an AVID FOLLOWER of the History Channel's "ANCIENT ALIENS" which supplied a Context in which the I Ching is a COMPUTER that can be used to "Predict the Future" . I mean, their Something IS a SOMETHING but it ain't all that is contained within the I Ching or Book of Changes .
I was introduced to the "Ching" by the Great German Author, Hermann Hesse in his, Magister Ludi or The Glass Bead Game a novel that won him the prestigious "Nobel Peace Prize for Literature" . I must save further description of that introduction for sometime in the Future . It is essential for me to deliver an Introduction that suits 'Contemporary Times' because, at ITS Core, the I Ching is MONSTRUOSLY >>>Esoteric<<< and when I say >Esoteric< I mean it AIN'T for 'Every-body', but that doesn't make 'accessibility' Impossible , "it" makes it Difficult, meaning, one must be attentive to Psychological subtleties and nuances that the Western Reader has NOT experienced like EVA !! Keep in mind the fucking AGE of this Volume, a Volume brought into Modern Life by Translators Richard Wilhelm and {the magnificently beautiful} Cary F. Baynes .
Remember that Herr Hesse underwent "Jungian Analysis" and it may be here where Hesse was Introduced to "The Ching" . Now HOW Jung got Introduced I DON'T KNOW but THAT is not as important as Hesse's Introduction of it to the General Public .
When I finished Magister Ludi I devoted YEARS to trying to understand the complexities expressed in the "Ching" and that severe Interest remains with me to this day .
